Welcome to my blog - it's here that I share some of my most recent work - be sure to check back often!! Kathleen Chapman Photography specializes in child and family photography in the North Country NY counties of Franklin and St.Lawrence in locations such as St. Regis Falls, Brushton, Malone, Massena and Potsdam. I offer studio and on location sessions designed to meet your creative vision!!
Sweet McKinley was a dream to photograph for her 1st birthday/cake smash session. She started the session wearing a cute, white knit romper and I photographed her with my pink fabric background and then switched to my beautiful floral garland with little lights. She was such a fun, smiley, cooperative little model and made my job so easy. Her Mom had wanted to incorporate a newborn picture into the session and was disappointed that she had forgot the picture at home. Knowing this was something special to the family (because we had done the same for her brothers session) - I quickly suggested that maybe we try using one of my pictures in a frame as a stand-in during the session so that maybe I would be able to photoshop McKinley's picture into the frame later. I always love an editing challenge and the resulting pictures were just what Mom had envisioned. Mom changed her into her purple, sequin tutu for the cake smash and despite the fact that McKinley had never tasted cake before - she knew just what to do. This petite, cutie dug right in and kept saying "ummmmmm" with every bite. I couldn't resist several close up shots of her beautiful eyelashes!! I must say that Mom holds the record for the most hair bow changes during a session - there were 9 in total (most were so seamless and quick that I didn't even notice until I was editing the session LOL)!! Below are some of my many favorites from this adorable session!!

Now that I'm retired from my day job I finally have a chance to catch up a little on my blog. This handsome little man gave his Mom and I quite a workout taking his 2nd birthday portraits back in March LOL! We started the session with a little construction set-up with a cute "Caution Terrible Twos Ahead" sign made by Mom. He looked so cute in his work boots and jeans. After a change of shirt I did some more formal portraits shooting as fast as I could to capture some sweet pictures of this little fast moving target. I can't believe how grown up he looks in some of the pictures compared to his 1 year old portraits - so happy to deliver his precious gallery - here are some of my favorites!

During the long, cold North Country winters I feel so blessed to be able to offer portrait sessions in my cozy home studio. I love capturing personality in portraits where the main focus is on the beauty of my subject against a simple background. I recently took by youngest granddaughter's 4 year old pictures and her little brother's 8 month portraits as well. My grandson recently began crawling so I'm guessing this is most likely the last session where he will sit still for me for quite some time LOL!! My granddaughter on the other hand at 4 is a willing subject (for a short amount of time) and I smile thinking back to when she was her brothers age and the years my daughter and I would be sweating after a session wondering - if after all the session craziness - if we would end of with any good shots. We were always very pleasantly surprised and I treasure each and every photo session I've had with any of my grandchildren.
If you're interested in a portrait session for your little - or not so little one - please email or message me so we can discuss scheduling a session - you'll be so glad you did!! Here are some of my favorites from my recent sessions with these 2 special little people.

On Friday night we went to Watertown to watch our Granddaughter perform in her first dance competition of the 2019 season. We're so proud of her and just love watching her enjoy and excel at what she loves. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of taking dance headshot portraits in my Dickinson Center studio of our granddaughter and her cousin who are both members of the competition team for the All That Jazz dance company. Here are some of my favorites from both sessions - such beautiful girls who were such amazing and easy subjects!!
