Welcome to my blog - it's here that I share some of my most recent work - be sure to check back often!! Kathleen Chapman Photography specializes in child and family photography in the North Country NY counties of Franklin and St.Lawrence in locations such as St. Regis Falls, Brushton, Malone, Massena and Potsdam. I offer studio and on location sessions designed to meet your creative vision!!
After their flights were cancelled not once but twice - Natasha and her boys finally arrived in NY from Florida a couple of days before their session this past week!! I think they brought the hot/humid Florida weather with them but you would never have guessed how hot it was that evening when you look at their beautiful pictures (this photographer on the other hand was a "hot" mess LOL)!! I always love it when clients choose a location that has special meaning to them - in this case it was the beautiful property of Natasha's Aunt and Uncle. The colorful flowers and lush greenery were the perfect backdrop for this beautiful Mom and her handsome young boys. Mom looked so pretty in her white maxi dress and flower crown and you could just feel the love between the 3 of them as they snuggled and held hands throughout the session. We had to battle the deer flies right from the start so I decided to make a game of it. I told the boys to swat and wave the flies away as much as they wanted but to be ready on the count of 3 for me take pictures - it worked!! After some pictures in different parts of the yard they took a stroll down a lush, wooded trail that made for some story book pictures. We ended the session by the gazebo built by Natasha's uncle - a great way to end such a special evening.
In the past when I thought about Mommy and Me sessions I immediately thought of mothers and daughters. This all changed for me after this session. All you Mom's with boys - how precious are these Mother and Son pictures? Hoping this beautiful session will inspire other mothers to want to book sessions with the special young men in their lives!!

Had so much fun with this adorable little girl during her 1st birthday session in my studio on Saturday. Working with repeat clients and having the opportunity to watch their little ones grow is just another reason why I love what I do!! Sweet little Doris was such a fun and cooperative subject - such a natural in front of the camera. We started the session with a couple family portraits, incorporated a few simple props and then it was time to bring out the cake! Doris had already celebrated her birthday and wanted the cake as soon as she saw it. The picture of her trying to take a bite out of the top of the cake cracks me up!! It amazes me time and time again how great my little 1st birthday clients are and how they make it so easy to fill their galleries with so many adorable images!! Here's just a sample of some of my favorites from this fun session!!

Working with repeat clients is the best!! Was so excited to work with this sweet family again and to see how much their little ones had grown since their family session this past November. This time they were in my studio to celebrate their little girl's 1st birthday. I must say - 1st birthday sessions are busy - but so much fun and have quickly become some of my favorites!! It's so special to be able to document the end of a babies first year. The growth and development that takes place over the course of those first 12 months is totally amazing!! We started the session with some family portraits then Jenna became the star of the show!! She looked beautiful in her pretty pink party dress and WOW does the camera just love those big brown eyes. She wasn't sure what to think of her cake at first but after a little help and encouragement from her big brother she really seemed to enjoy it!! So happy to share Jenna's beautiful gallery with her parents!!

Finally had the chance to take my youngest granddaughters 3rd birthday pictures in my studio this past Saturday (she turned 3 in January but I guess it's better late than never right?)!! I attached a few flowers and small white balloons to some garland and hung it on the wall. The flowers added a pop of color and the balloons gave it a whimsical, party feel. I just love how my daughter can just throw Myla's hair up in a messy bun and it looks beautiful (we learned through trial and error that Grammy doesn't have the same talent - LOL). She enjoyed getting all dressed up and was such a great, cooperative little subject. When it came time for an outfit change I put up my new backdrop and took some portraits in my white chair - just love this combination. She loves to dance so we ended the session with some dancing shots. Such a fun, special session!! Now I'm looking forward to a 13th birthday session with my oldest grandson!! Milestone sessions like these are such a fun, special way to document your child or grandchild at any age.
