Just when I thought the session in my wildflower garden was going to be rained out last Wednesday - the rain magically let up and stopped for just enough time for me to capture some beautiful pictures of this sweet, loving family. With my gear ready to go on a moment’s notice we quickly headed down the path to my garden as soon as we felt the rain letting up – hoping and praying we wouldn’t get poured on at any second. I quickly laid out a blanket (on the wet grass) for some family portraits. Unsure how long we had before the rain started again I quickly took some walking and standing shots in the path in our field. Next, we headed out into the field to a spot where I was hoping to get a distant view of the sunflowers in my garden behind my subjects – this ended up being one of my favorite pictures from the session. We finished with some special pictures of sweet Annie with her Dad and then with her Mom. I tried to convince her to let me take some individual pictures of her with her pretty pink umbrella - maybe next time LOL!!
My wildflower garden has been quite a challenge this year – lack of rain, slugs, Japanese Beetles and some black (bud eating) bugs I can’t identify, have all made it pretty time consuming to assure a beautiful spot for my wildflower garden sessions. As I looked through the pictures after this session I suddenly realized that all my hours lovingly (and sometimes begrudgingly) caring for the garden were well worth it – I just love capturing beautiful moments for families in such an inviting, lush and colorful location!!
I want to thank the Soper family for being such good sports waiting out the rain, sitting on a wet blanket and walking through wet grass – all with beautiful, loving smiles on their faces. If you’re like me - I don’t think you’d ever guess it was pouring rain just before - and right after these beautiful pictures were taken – talk about luck!!
